Si! Si! SI!

It may be far from the real purpose of FM Design but it's still forums, social things are included! Social groups examples are Don't Starve Players group, Asians Group and such. I just liek it. XD

Hmm.. You got me thinking. Y'know what would be cool ? If members could create their own groups on the forum and invite their friends to have secret chats. Sorta like Steam Razz

Too bad Forumotion is limited in that respect. Although there's always the possibility you can make it happen. Just gotta think outside the box. Think

I don't like the 'clan' idea on forums. They're uncool and drive ppl away from sites, splitting up the whole community.

PS: Is advertising allowed in signatures? Cuz I see Wilson do just that. I could advertise a bunch more if that's allowed yk.

That's it! Actually that's what I'm suggesting Razz

@Samantha, maybe, but I've never encountered situation like that.

I already told you it's not advertising! fufufu

Actually, this has two sides.

It is nice to have social groups because with that there could be an encouragement to keep everyone active. This is most common in gaming forums. Way back when the forums I was in was not inhabited by spambots, it was fun visiting the threads of other groups, chatting, and expanding the social circle. Having identical signatures as sign of memberships, then having their clan thread race to 5,000 posts so that it will be closed by the Forum Masters and open a new clan thread which will be called as the next version of their clan thread. This is really fun.

But on the other side, just like what @Samantha had said, it could split up the community just because new members or returnees don't feel like they belong because there is a dividing line now. (I don't know but that's what I think)

In my point of view, I'm not quite sure if having such social groups will divert the real purpose of this forum which is for the design and development of Forumotion forums.

I like the idea -- it could be something to work on as a side project. Wink However, I don't think it would work out for this forum, because then I'd have to create tons of groups and forums to go with those groups ; It'd be high maintenance due to Forumotion's limitations. Plus if everyone had their private groups there's the chance that they'd only participate there rather the rest of the forum. Think

How about instead of groups, we make clubs? Smile You could create a speacial forum for that where users can create or join clubs of various interests and enjoy/discuss common interests.

Glad you liked it. Haha!
In a serious note, I contradicted myself because you know, I really want to have social groups/ clubs. It's just that it may defeat the forum's original purpose though. But anyway, it is up to the Admin.

I think a better way of spending hard earned points is for @Ange Tuteur to open up a kind of webshop on his site and add stuff on there like grapics and scripts you can purchase. Something like:

- Banner: simple: 1,000 points, complex 2,000 points
- Icon / Avatar: .png 500 points, .gif 1,500 points
- Scripts: Simple: 1,500; Medium: 3,000; Complex: 5,000
- Fixing: script: 2,000; debugging your site: 3,500
- Theme fixing: simple: 1,500; total site overhaul 10,000 (incl. scripting)
... etc. Something like that, you get the picture alrighty.

It will stimulate him to keep working on stuff he likes, enjoy the bits and bolts he likes to turn and keep us happy. And yh, you can split this post and have it added as a seperate suggestion if you like.

Some of us don't have the privilege to be here and post '24/7' to earn those points.

@Samantha
The theme fixing and other stuff related to that is really a good idea to spend points with. It could really encourage members to post regularly.

It was meant as an example with imaginary stuff. And look, I ain't got no 10,000 points to go on neither (yet). It 'll take me at least another year to get that (if not being banned meanwhile Razz) cuz I 'll not be posting out thát much again and grab another trophy next month. I'm not that selfish yk. You can have it next month if you'd really really try. Meanwhile, an extra 4,000 / 5,000 posts come at a price. I battled my bum off for him and you guys, and now it's about time I got paid for that Razz Who can ask more? Well, not me no more... Laughing I did whatever I could to get them post counts high enough to keep this site alive yk!

Ty.

In my webshop I've got collectables. A whole bunch of .gif animals to share in one's profile. Rings, birthday greetings to share and to give away, even with a personal note attached to it. Best of all, you can be a chatmod for a day or with a cracking amount of credits you'll get a guided admin tour by me. It all depends on what post count you've got, but we regularly have competitions running to get a bunch of points in all at once.
