Phpbb to Forumotion phpBB2 (subsilver)

Here's a good question....... What are the issues/problems I am likely to face by migrating a phpbb 3.0.11 forum (None forumotion) to a forumotion phpBB2 (subsilver) forum? The reason I ask is I have been waiting almost 7 days for the admin to sort it all out although they have uploaded my Db the new forum is full of all sorts of issues which I am told the techs will put right but how long does this sort of thing take? I have asked my members not to post so there is no loss of posts until the move over is complete but I didn't expect it to take so long.

Your moving to a PhpBB2 from a PhpBB3 why?

Originally I was with Forumotion here http://mybulgariaportal.forumotion.com/ which was quite sometime back now, I had a few issues with the management at that time (MrMario) however a couple of the mods at the time (Sanket and Kirk) were great and fully understanding, so I decided to move my forum and manged to find someone to get my Db from forumotion and create this www.ourbulgariaforum.com which has been fine for a number of years now because my co Admin was able to do any updates and mods as required, sadly he is no longer with us and I have struggled for the last 2 years to cope with the forum and when I came across stuff I hadn't got a clue about I had to pay someone to do it for me which cost on average about £30 no matter how small a job it was and if it was a phpbb software update it could be anything up to £70 , so I decided to go back to a free forum because I know there is plenty of help about . Ok you could say well why don't you get your members to contribute? the answer to that is all the money we raise will help Orphanages, we have even sent the children on a holiday, I have banners on the forum too which brings in an income of around £800 pa which again every penny goes to a charity, I have funded the forum myself from day 1 and that isn't too much of an issue its all the updates and ad-dons.

Sorry it's a bit long winded but unless you know all the fact's you may not have understood.

I'd say it depends on how extensive your community was. I've never used the importation feature, so I cannot really say how long it takes, but when you take into account the amount of data that has to be transferred, unexpected problems, and other importations, it could take some time.

You used the import option after creating the forum on forumotion, correct ?

Yes I did which in it self was a problem I had to get Buttercup to help and was sent anther link where it was successful.

Yes that does add up

It would be best to follow both the importation team, and the English community manager for the status of your import. I personally have no experience with handling importations, so I'm only going by assumptions. Someone had some similar problems a few weeks ago with their import, but it seems everything is steady for them now. The process seems to take time, but if you have any questions or problems, you can always bring them up on the support for the CM to look at..

It's beginning to look like I have wasted a lot of time (13 days) I am being continually told by Buttercup that issues are fixed when they clearly are not, I was told that all the images that were missing would be corrected which now they say they can not do, I was told that all the broken links have been corrected for the lost images which again they say they now say they can not do, in one of my forums I have a topic for staff only called DAILY REPORT ALL HERE this should only appear once but I have 7 of them with different amounts of posts. I can live without the images but not the text it has left on the posts.. example....[attachment=6]<!-- ia6 -->us and the group.jpg<!-- ia6 -->[/attachment].
I have too many of these to go thorough every post and delete them, I have asked if they can delete all the text is shows from the server end? but I am not hopeful. I will have to wait and see if anything is done today? One thing is for sure I won't be asking my members to transfer over unless I can sort out these issues somehow? so if anyone has any ideas I am here listening. Looks like Buttercup wasn't being totally honest with me it seems that although he/she said there would be no problems with the import and everything would be sirted out by their tech's? they will not be doing anymore to correct the import issues. Don't understand why these problems have occurred because when I converted from Forumotion to phpBB there were no problems at all with any of the images etc, even the members were automatically issued with a 6 digit password. Don't know what to do now?
