Always online

Over on FM a member asked a question which you was dealing with @Ange Tuteur here http://help.forumotion.com/t137125-how-to-make-a-username-always-appear-as-online?highlight=who+is+online And I wondered if something like this was possible so it would show a mod or Admin online all the time or even several mods

Why would you want it to show there is a staff member online 24/7 if I may ask? Unless they really are people may wonder or think staff is ignoring them if they ask a question.

You do not have to answer me, I was just curious.

Well my members are from all over the world and from time to time I get spammers, but only when there is no staff online, so its to fool potential spammers, I had an attack recently which took me hours to clean up so I thought this might be a good idea? anyway at least worth a try. No problem with you asking

Ah that is understandable and reasonable, them and spam bots I tell you, they try to attack the weak and helpless (or so they think) forums. When I came back from a 2 year absence my forum nearly got taken over by a spam bot! Darn bugger had over 500 posts! I banned the sucker on sight but it took at least 4 days to week to get the forum to rights. That really got me to hate spambots with passion more then anything.

I don't think that's possible. Templates use {LOGGED_IN_USER_LIST}, {L_ONLINE_USERS} and {L_CONNECTED_MEMBERS} and there's no effective way to change that list (it's server-side).

It's possible to place a pseudo-user in the onlinelist or keep your account logged in at all times, but that would require having your computer always on and browser never closed.
