[SOLVED] Hiding specific content from guests

Hello, it's me again with another question. I would like to hide some content from guests, so they can see something like [Please register to see blah blah]. I know that you can do that with the help of some code, but it replaces all the links, and I need to hide both links and some text, but only in specific posts/topics, something like [hide], but not only for those who never posted in a forum. And when they register, they see everything just the way it should be.
Don't know if it's possible though, but I know that Ange's knowledge is limitless.

Hi @Haggis,

While it's possible, the result is not ideal. Since we do not have access to server-side functions, such as parsing custom tags, we're limited to using JavaScript to parse content client-side. Note : If the viewer has javascript disabled or inspects the page's markup, they increase their chances of finding the content without being signed in.

If you'd like to use this method, go to Admin Panel > Modules > JavaScript codes management and create a new script with the following settings.

Placement : In all the pages

  if (!_userdata.session_logged_in) {
    $('.no-guest').before('<span style="color:red;">[ You must <a href="/login">log in</a> or <a href="/register">register</a> to see this content ! ]</span>').remove();
  } else {
    $('.no-guest').show();
  }

Save the script, and then you'll be able to use the following tags to hide content from guests :

[table class="no-guest" style="display:none;"][tr][td]CONTENT_HERE[/td][/tr][/table]

It's not 100% full-proof, but it does get the job done for those who are not tech-savy.
