[ACCEPTED] NickName Mentioning

I don't know how to formulate this, but I just had another bright idea. NickName Mentioning

Add a custom field to the profiles and have the member enter a unique nickname through which he / she can be "@mentioned". A JS should prevent members from using duplicate names (by searching through those fields with other members?). The nickname can be displayed in their profiles.

For instance: I'm @Samantha at the moment, but I'd also like to add and be able to be mentioned @"Sammy" or @"Goddess of the Universe" @Leah7 may be called @"Queen of the World" @Ange Tuteur is Ange's official username, but maybe he just likes to be called @"Cat" or @"Bad Programmer" too

PS: I'm gonna ask for the same on 'the other site' *cough* soon, also to be used (just or explicitly NOT) in chat, but you've got the premiere

@Samantha this should be pretty easy to put together. I could probably do it similar to how I did the mention avatars and personal rank titles. I'll write up a prototype and let you have a spin at it when I'm finished.

Last night, @Ange Tuteur and me did a bit of testing on my site. The usernames will be replaced by the nicknames when mentioned. Also, we found out that we could possibly compare the nicknames to the usernames using JS, but not to the nicknames themselves. We've been discussing all the options. So, the script will be out after it has been rewritten and a couple of more tests to serve everyone, but there will probably be a warning to go with it. Last but not least, we still need to find a way to get in notifications when using a nick. So, basically, we're still working on it.
