Hello,
The code is not working because the myElement variable is not defined. You should change myElement with notif.

Just getting the innerHTML content of the notifications isn't going to transfer bound events. You can try cloning the node though.
JS : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Node/cloneNode
jQuery : http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/html_clone.asp
Depends how you do it, but it might work. Personally, I'd just create a new button and have it toggle the notification list.

Well, you could do something like this :
That'll add a clone of the notifications button to the navbar.
- Code:
$(function(){$(function() {
$('#fa_notifications').clone(true).addClass('mainmenu').wrap('<li />').appendTo('#navbar ul');
})});
That'll add a clone of the notifications button to the navbar.

In short, if you're not using the toolbar then you're not going to get notifications. You can of course hide the toolbar though.
P.S.
To be blunt, I'm not fond of handling requests of requests. If you cannot solve a problem for another user yourself, do not bring it to me. It is your job, not mine.
