Why not activate the chatbox and have AWC installed?

Honestly, I think the chatbox takes away from the forum's overall activity. ( e.g. Instead of posting on the forum we'd be posting in the chatbox ) Way back when I was a member of another forum we'd use the chatbox more than the forums, and in turn that caused the overall activity and involvement in the forum to drop significantly. I'd prefer it if the chatbox was not enabled, because we can still chat directly on the forum via topics like these.

Well, then make a rule: no support here. And not enabling chat will decrease my forum activity dramatically indeed

This is exactly what is happening to the forum I currently work for(as a mod). I rarely see post on forums.

So, I have to agree with Ange.

The chatbox would decrease the activity of the whole forum.  Also I have noticed that many users do not use it on forums that have it.  There is usually only a handful that exactly use the chatbox.

Yeah, the problem with chatboxes is that they can draw attention away from the forum. I admit they're convenient for small talk, though. However, since I'm working on rebuilding this forum, I'd rather focus activity on the forum itself and not a chatbox.

True, when I did have it active it would just sit there. I mostly used it for testing.

Oooh the guests ? I notice every time I send out a tweet there's a small spike in guests. Probably robots or something.

yh, you gave me chat mod permissions don't you remember? First thing you'd do after lunch was to activate chat! Drunk too much coffee? Look on the left @ my profile!

Ooooh, to tell the truth I didn't know HTML formatted. That would've been bad with scripts. Fixed it now.
