I believe you really do not need the numbers in the circles since you state the place winner to the right.

In regards to what SLGray said ; I think keeping the number on the icon is fine, because you could place other texts where you have "nth Place", such as a member's name for example. Overall I like the concept, but for the icon I think that just comes down to personal preference. To be honest though, the icons sorta remind me of pool balls.
