Last but not least, I made an update to the profiles that adds an "awards" tab, this way you can view each others achievements via the profile page.

Why not add 2 more?

Cool feature!
Wouldn't be good if it's scrollable? I mean, new awards are still open for suggestions, it will be too long to scroll through. One more thing, it will be better if the award list is sorted by the awards you achieved. Technically, the blue ones are on the top and grey ones on the bottom.

I'll think about that. When in comes to suggestions they're not always accepted and can hang for awhile, which would make tiered awards for this near-impossible to achieve. Same can be said for the bug award as well.Samantha wrote:Why not add 2 more?

Thanks, you're right about the overflow, I'll set the maximum height to 500 pixels. I'll note that down -- perhaps sorting options ? e.g. sort by : obtained, unobtained, defaultWilson wrote:Cool feature!

Thanks too!
Yes, that sorting options would be good.

While I was taking a shower I thought of 4 more awards. The awards are permanent and each month you can reach for that next award if you wish, until you've got all 4 of them in your pocket.
Award: Postman
Accumulate 100+ posts in a month
Dear all ...
Award: Post Office
Accumulate 250+ posts in a month
Read all about it!
Award: Post Juggler
Accumulate 500+ posts in a month
You've got a way handling all those posts! Are you sure you don't want to work for a global mail service?
Award: Spambot
Accumulate 1,000+ posts in a month
No bot can beat your moves on this forum!

@Samantha The only problem would be with keeping track for this type of award because the widget only shows the top 10 posters of the month, and I'm not sure if I can see an extended version of these stats elsewhere. Nonetheless I like the idea though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well why don't you make it dependend of the top 10 or 5 even then? That 'll make it even harder to get the awards
Meanwhile, why don't you keep track of records and create a Hall of Fame table for it?
Name > posts > month > year

It could be rather misleading then, especially if someone achieves the specified amount, but wasn't in the top 10. Perhaps it could be changed to "Achieve nth place" rather than based on post count ?
- GuestGuest
nah, nvm then. we've already got an award for 1st place.
You sure ? We could have 3 ; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, however, they'll be permanent unlike the expirable one which marks the current MotM.Samantha wrote:nah, nvm then. we've already got an award for 1st place.

That's what I said, we already got a MotM award. But what I'd like to see is that people keep on having a post battle. I may not be the next one, but I think it's fair when people get an award for the number of posts they wrote, you see. And I think having like 250, 500 and 1,000 awards could be a good addition to the MotM award because the MotM award is regardless of any of number of posts count. I mean to some it's very hard to reach 250 even. And I'm not gonna be writing 1,000+ each month yk haha!
Question is, like in my case, should one be rewarded all 3 awards if someone writes up 1,000+ in 1 month? I think it's fair to do so, since it's levels one reached at any given time.
Or, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd could also be serving as awards that could go to someone else when beaten for the # of posts. Example: I get the 1st place spambot award for writing 1,259 posts April 2016, but that award could go to someone else if someone was to write for instance 1,399 posts December 2016... That way you'll need to keep track of only 3 and people need to defend their awards if they want to keep them.
The Hall of Fame could act as a trigger to write even more, since it can be used as a historical reference.
I'm sorry if I can't really express my thoughts atm, cuz I'm very much distracted here. It's bad for me to switch back and forth between Dutch and English all the time
PS: I think you may have missed this one: https://fmdesign.forumotion.com/t488-tutorial-adding-a-youtube-playlist-to-your-topic-post#6249
Hmm.. what do you think of :
1. Achieved 1st place in "top posters this month" with 1000 or more posts.
2. Achieved 2nd place or higher in "top posters this month" with 500 or more posts.
3. Achieved 3nd place or higher in "top posters this month" with 250 or more posts.
I think that might be easier to track and harder to obtain. As for how the awards are obtain, I think achieving the maximum should also net you the other tiers as well.
P.S.
I'm sorry, I think I forgot that yesterday. I remembered that we have a "Users tutorial section" and I split your post to there. Is that okay with you ? I'll probably merge this section with the main tutorial forum when I put the new layout into effect. This is what I've drafted at the moment :

Yeah it's OK to split and I couldn't find that section before. Would have been more logical to have a 'User submitted Tutorial' section as a forum within the Tips & Tricks section yk. Sorry. Also sorry for keeping it short as I'm about to prepare dinner here...
You say the awards should be given 'this month' so that wouldn't make them permanent now would they? Or could I earn 2 or n times 1st place so I'll end up with that many 1st place awards for instance? And if so, what happens to the MotM award? I'm not sure I'm getting you... I'm confused 2 the max

The MotM award will still be a time exclusive award. It'll be given to the top poster of the month, each month.
The awards I mentioned prior to your post will be permanent and can only be achieved once. They'll sort of be a challenge because you'll need to achieve Nth place with a specified number of posts in a month. If you get 3rd place and have 500 posts you'll only receive the first tier. If you want the second tier award, you'd need to come in 2nd place. In that case, if you came in 2nd with 500 posts, you'll receive the first and second tier awards.

Just got these in mind while I was playing a rhythm game yesterday.
Bachelor Reputable (or any suggested name)
An award given to members who has earned 100 rep. pts.
Master Reputable (or any suggested name)
An award given to members who has earned 500 rep. pts.
Doctor Reputable (or any suggested name)
An award given to members who has earned >1000 re. pts.
Referred a Friend (or any suggested name)
An award given to members who has referred one friend to register in the forum.
But I have doubts about the Referred a Friend award, since people could just register new dummy accounts and pretend they were referred by this person just to get the award and then disappear.
Any thoughts about this?

@JamesPH Thanks for the suggestions ! They're good ideas, however, the reputation one has already been implemented as :
- Likeable ( 25 rep )
- Loveable ( 100 rep )
- Idol ( 500 rep )
I do like the idea of the referral award, though. I'll think that one over.

Oops. Didn't know that.
However, I have seen something on www.graphicballoon.com , which would be a good idea for the referral award. This award could be given to a person who has referred "n" number of friends who make 20 posts for the first week of joining in the forums.

It's understandable, I mean I referred to it as "Likes" instead of reputation. Maybe I should rename the field.
That's not a bad idea, although considering the types of topics around here, it'd be pretty easy to get the specified number of posts. Still, I'll think about it.

Here's the newest awards that have been added to the list :
Since the beta program has been a success so far, I figured it was right to reward those who participated as thanks for their help.
• Test Dummy ( 5 Beta Tests )
• QA Team Leader ( 15 Beta Tests )
• Mad Scientist ( 30 Beta Tests )
And thanks to Samantha we now have some permanent Monthly awards.
• Postman
• Carrier Pigeon
• Spam Bot
See the award list or this post for details.

Thanks! I really like the icons you're using for the awards and together with the witty comments it all comes together very nicely.

No problem, thanks for the suggestion again.
Haha, I mostly got the idea for the general setup of the awards from achievements on other platforms, especially games. They need to be fun and make you laugh. I'm using CSS for the entire design of the awards and currently all the icons are from FontAwesome, I can also use images too if I need to, because I'd be limited otherwise.
