[SUGGESTION] Live Search
Page 1 of 1 • Share
This is somewhat of a bug report and a suggestion
Whenever I try to search general words that I know are a part of a topic title, I get an error page saying no topics were found:
Adding an asterisk at the end works but it's kind of like.. Meh. LOL. Might just be me, Idk.
ANYWAY. This little bug doesn't have to be addressed since it isn't such a big deal.. But.. I think adding a Live Search option would be nice so that suggestions pop up when a user types a word that is part of a topic title.
This way, the whole asterisk at the end of a word issue will be resolved and members could find additional relevant topics for their (partial) search queries without having to fully perform the query. (If that made sense LOL.)

@Valoish that's a great idea ! It'd be like a live search which would be pretty useful. Plus you can add the asterisk into the search query so that the user doesn't have to type it, which should make the return results a bit more accurate.
I'll add it to my notes !

Heeeey, I started working on a draft for this idea, and so far it's going along good. I have it bringing up results as you type -- similar to how the mention or giphy plugin works.
I'll let you know when I start the testing phase.

@Ange Tuteur looks awesome!
Idk if this would be possible but maybe divide the searches into sections? So like.. Official Tutorials, Member Questions, etcetc.

Oh yeah, it's possible ! When searching, there's a link to the sub-forum that the topic was posted in. You could use this link to divide topics up based on their sub-forum.Valoish wrote:@Ange Tuteur looks awesome!

For the moment I'll leave it as is, since I plan on sharing the script with everyone.
Indeed, it'd make it easier to find topics, since you don't actually have to complete your search texts. The 3 character minimum still applies though.Luffy wrote:Great idea. This would solve the hands for a lot users who use the search function!
Cool I'll probably be setting up the beta test later today, because I'm pretty much finished for now.Ace 1 wrote:I like the idea. I already have an idea on how you're doing this and I look forward to testing it for errors.
