[IMPORTANT] My Departure From Forumotion

Hello everyone,

I write this message to inform you of my departure from Forumotion in regards to development. ( e.g. new plugins, support, improvements, etc.. ) Over the past 3 years I've helped many people with their forums, and even developed a large amount of plugins to improve your experience on Forumotion. The time I've spent with all of you has helped me learn so much about the web and better myself as a person -- I'm really glad to have met a lot of you during this journey. Like most things however, everything comes to an end, and that's what I'm here to talk about..

Over the past few months I've found myself losing interest in what I've been doing for the past few years, and even becoming stressed with it all in general. I was originally going to be done back when I left the support team for Forumotion, but I decided to linger around for awhile longer to finish up some unfinished projects of mine, and of course I ended up fulfilling other requests as well. Anyway to keep things from dragging out any longer I'll get straight to the point ; starting in the new year I've decided that I'll be done with Forumotion and will move on. That means that I will no longer be developing for / improving Formotion forums or fulfilling anymore requests. I'll probably stop by once in awhile to chat with you all, but that's about it.

Sorry for the bad news, but I think it's time for me to move on and begin a new journey. If you have any questions for me, feel free to leave a reply and I'll answer you.

Very sad news. But I can understand the wish to leave and see something else, I can only wish you good luck in this new approach.

But, question in spite of everything, is the development of the current plugins maintained or will these be abandoned? Including FAE.

Of course we're sad to see you go, but this is for the best. Like I said before, I noticed that you've gotten less active on both FMD and the ESF and that you didn't seem as enthusiastic/excited about coding anymore, so I completely understand and respect your decision. And I'd like to thank you for all the help you've provided all of us and for all the awesome plugins! ^^ 

Even though I've only known you for a short amount of time, I do consider you a friend, and I enjoyed the time I did get to spend with you and all the other lovely people I met through FMD ♡ I wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose to purse from here, and I hope you enjoy your long deserved break! Hope to see you around on here some time - since ya know.. you spent so much time developing this fab forum. c:

I am so gonna miss you. All of this, everything that happened, it is indeed very sad to see you go now. I mean, now that I'm back lol. But I guess it won't do you any good if you continue what you don't want to do so yeah I am really gonna miss this.

As one adventure ends another begins. We will miss you Ange. I wish you good luck in your future. When you have extra time please stay in contact. Enjoy the long fought for break and remember us little guys. The coding god evolved to a person with a really bright future. Have Fun, and Farewell!

I believe I can safely say we're all going to miss you a lot . So, where do we go from here? As you know me, music has always been of great importance in my life and when some of the things in life get too complicated, at times of trouble or when I get too emotional I prefer telling the story with a song. When I wrote the word 'Quest' above, it reminded me of that 'Buck Rogers' theme song. It's one of the sci-fi series I love to watch. Though a bit dated, the lyrics speak for themself in striking resemblance to your Quest. In a way it comforts me, knowing I'm not losing a friend, but saying goodbyes to an era. Thanks for your words, everyone, I greatly appreciate them. I'll still visit the forum now and again, so I wont be gone completely. I just wont be active in regards to delivering plugins, support, fulfilling requests, etc.. As for what I plan on doing next.. that's to be decided. Firstly though, I'll be taking a nice vacation to clear my head, relax, and think about where I go from here.

Good question ! Since I will be leaving development it will most likely become "abandonware", but because it's open source anyone whose willing to take on development of the project is welcomed, I'd just need to give them access to the repo or merge their commits. As is though, you still get an amazing forum theme at no cost..

There is still more things to hype about here other than coding, if you just open up some topics more about general stuff though, I'm even here just to chill out anyways.

I sure hope @Ange Tuteur will keep the Edge support section open so we can help eachother while he's 'out-of-office'.

Whoa, I just got back from some major stuff and look at this..

First off, I know that I probably wouldn't know half the stuff I do now without your help bro and I can never thank you enough for this knowledge. Stuff that should be complicated is easy now thanks to the stuff you've taught me in the past year and some change. I'm eternally grateful for all the plugins and stuff you've released because it's given me inspiration to create my own.

And second, I just wanted to let you know that I think there's someone who might be willing to take the torch you put down I might end up making an Edge forum these next few days. But regardless, Imma miss your guru-ness and I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.

I have no plans to close the section related to Forumactif Edge, since there's still an amazing community that's willing to help.

Thanks for your words, I'm glad I was able to inspire you. I'm sure you're going to become an amazing web developer, what with how fast you've progressed already. I feel sooooo flattered with these awesome comments of yours, @Ange Tuteur. I'm always full of inspiring stuff, and you know it! You've seen what I'm capable of, and not only on FMD. I'm glad I could 've been of help to extend your horizons and improve your skills.

And I'm glad you won't be closing the section nor the site. It will teach US something, too. It will teach us to better understand eachother, listen and learn, work together and work as a team. We can run this 'Restaurant called "FM Design", off the shores of 'Indian Creek' while the chef is on a 'vacation' ourselves, right? Right! No sweat! So, let's cook up some delicious meals all together now and keep his spirit alive! There's no need to change the menu, just a couple of ingredients here and there when needed.

It's his best gift ever, guys... Can't you see?? It's THE biggest XMAS gift you'll EVER get!

Wow i did not see this coming when you left FM support it hit me hard it felt like all my best mates from there was leaving so when i become a member here i felt i can still be close to them that left or got banned.

I am so upset that you are now leaving this side of life as well you will be missed so much and we will be lost without you.

You will always a big part of my life your are a Gem.

I just wanted to thank you for creating amazing tutorials and Edge. Also for helping create the theme for the official English support forum.

So do we still use the forum to connect with each other? And for support too? I love your scripts so I will probably use them again for my part and improve them for my needs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The site and Edge support forum will still be available, though we have to come up with our own solutions starting from the new year. The clock is ticking. He won't be supporting the site no more. He'll be off, gone to the North Pole, permanently. Hence the reason why I'm so closely looking at those plug-ins and official tutos lately. I'm trying to squeeze the living daylights out of the knowledge he has about the scripts and background of his programming here before he's off, and not just for my own good, can't you see? I'd greatly appreciate it if all of you would get off your bums and actively participate instead of just being backseat copycats. Be creative to keep the site alive! So, if you've got any questions still about the stuff he made throughout the years, you better hurry and do it now. There's just a few days left!
