Hi,
I didn't know where to open this topic. However I really liked the design of this forum e.g. each category appearing as a block and the ability to stack them side by side.
Is their a tutorial for this? I took a look around and I never really found anything so I thought I'd ask.

Any question goes in General Discussion for any and all to discuss ! 
Weeell for that categories it's done by displaying the normal block-level categories(<div>) as inline blocks. You could also use floats too. Right now I only did this for phpbb3, but I could give you the base CSS for the layout if you want.
If I'm up to it I could also make a theme for it...but I have a bad tendency to get lost in other..things.

The base CSS would be fine. I understand you're busy with other projects.
I think though that this could make a forum look unique as not many forums ever make their forum look like this.
