Learning Web Development
Page 1 of 1 • Share
Introduction
The point of this topic is to offer guidance to those that want to learn the basics of web development. Why should you learn web development ? Learning the basics of web development is very valuable knowledge to have for managing your Forumotion forum and the web ! This knowledge can help you :
- Create HTML pages
- Design forum and website themes
- Create JavaScript plugins and apps
- and more..
What should I learn first ?
To begin you first need to learn the following languages. This is a list of languages that you can learn to help better manage your Forumotion forum. These languages should be learned in the order that they are listed !- HTML
- HTML is the building blocks of your webpage. It's used to design and create your webpage's layout. - CSS
- CSS is used to style your HTML tags, bringing color and other unique designs to life. - JavaScript
- JavaScript helps make your webpage dynamic. It can manipulate, add, or remove elements on a whim. Many plugins released here utilize JavaScript. - jQuery
- jQuery is a library or "extension" for JavaScript. It's designed to make normal JavaScript tasks easier with less writing. Most developers on Forumotion use jQuery's "document ready" function to launch their plugins when the webpage is ready to be manipulated.
Websites that offer learning
Now that you know the languages you should work on, you should review the list of websites below which offer free tutorials for learning HTML, CSS, Javascript, and more ! Try each website, and choose the one that's easiest for you to follow.Remember : There's no need to rush ! Everyone learns at a different pace, so take your time when studying and reread as necessary ! Whenever you find you're stuck, you should go back to one of the websites above and reread what you're trying to do. If you still find you're stuck, feel free to open a topic in General Discussion to ask for help. We'll happily answer any of your questions !

https://www.youtube.com/user/thenewboston/videos
It's got tons of sweet computer related tutorials for stuff like GitHub, JavaScript, HTML, etc. presented to you at various levels.

Though this manual was written for WordPress specifically, the basics of discovering JS errors (Step 3) are still the same and may help you to streamline your site

^ that has a good explanation -- this was actually something on my list of tutorials I want to write. I have a few console related ones that I wanna do when I get the chance. *-*
