There's a "New PM" image in the navbar holder when viewing a member's Visitor Messages on a mobile device.
I checked on my laptop browser just in case and it works fine there so maybe hide the button from the navbar and place it somewhere else for mobiles?
Edit: I tried clicking on the new pm button on my phone and it doesn't work so it's not even functional in its current state xD

@Valoish thanks for the report, that's definitely a problem ! I'll plan a patch to fix that on mobile, so that it's at the end of the links.

I got a fix ready and it'll be applied in a patch update. ( v1.1.1 ) Gonna wait a bit before sending it out though, just to make sure nothing else will need to be patched in. 
The image will be moved to the left on mobile or resolutions <768px wide.
